St. Paul suffers set back in extra innings, dropping 3-2 contest to Torrington

In a marathon game that lasted over four hours, Torrington defeated St. Paul 3-2 with a walk-off win in the bottom of the 13th inning at Fuessenich Park in Torrington yesterday. Reliever Dom DiBecelle allowed no hits and struck out four in the final two innings to pick up the win. Dom Napoletano took the loss for St. Paul.

St. Paul scored its two runs in the top of the first. With one out, Logan Rembish walked, Cal Chance singled, and AJ Corrado walked to load the bases. Coby Dagata followed with a two-RBI single, and St. Paul had an early 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the first, consecutive singles by Dom DiBecelle, Logan Tucciarone, Will Parkhouse (RBI), and Jack McCoy (RBI) produced two runs to tie the score at 2.

For the next 11 1/2 innings, neither team was able to score another run. Each team had numerous opportunities with men in scoring position, but neither team could get the big hit. 

In the bottom of the 13th, Aidan Colucci led off with a bunt single. On the next pitch, he stole second. An errant pick-off throw allowed him to advance to third. Then John Pergola slapped a ball through the drawn in infield, and the game was over.
