The Bristol Sports Hall of Fame recently announced the following students as recipients of the 2020 BSHOF Scholarships:
From Bristol Central,
- Jitshu Sajeevan wins the BSHOF Leary Family Memorial Scholarship and
- Jacob Santiago wins the BSHOF Alfred Greenleaf Memorial Scholarship.
From Bristol Eastern,
- Rebecca Bender wins the BSHOF Christopher Calnan Memorial Scholarship, and
- Emily Mulcunry wins the 2nd BSHOF Christopher Calnan Memorial Scholarship.
From St. Paul,
- Walker Sharp wins the BSHOF Roberge Family Scholarship, and
- Michael Dolce wins the BSHOF Scholarship.
Each scholarship recipient is receiving an award of $1,500. During their high school careers, the winners were all first recognized as Scholar-Athletes by the Hall of Fame.
Scholar athletes must maintain an academic average of 90 or better over the course of their high school careers and letter in at least three varsity sports.
The recipients were chosen from a field of 22.
Each recipient wrote an essay explaining the benefits that they received from their participation in athletics and included a brief summary of their future plans.
Michael Dolce will attend Wesleyan in the fall. Emily Mulcunry and Jacob Santiago will attend the University of Hartford. Rebecca Bender and Jitshu Sajeevan will attend UConn. Walker Sharp will attend Salve Regina.
