BCHS celebrates on Memorial Boulevard

By David Greenleaf

The Bristol Central High School Class of 2020 celebrated with family, friends and faculty in a procession of vehicles on Memorial Boulevard Tuesday night.  Students and their families decorated vehicles with signs, balloons and mementoes and drove up and down the Boulevard while BCHS staff and city officials saluted them.

The Boulevard was closed to traffic and lined with a photo sign for each graduate. A team of Bristol Central staff members spent the afternoon decorating the strip from East St. to Riverside Ave. with maroon and white balloons, bubble machines, streamers, congratulatory signs and other decorations. A series of posters revealed the winners of the Class of 2020 superlative awards for the first time.

The senior celebration was a part of a month-long series of activities designed to help the seniors work through the challenges of the closure of school and cancellation of many senior activities.

The Bristol Central Class of 2020 will present its virtual graduation via online streaming on June 17.
