MAYOR’S OPIOID TASK FORCE VIDEO SERIES WINS SILVER TELLY AWARD

The following is a summary of a news release from the Mayor’s office on Friday, July 10.

The Mayor’s Opioid Task Force’s series of Public Service Announcements recently won a Silver Telly Award in the category of Social Video Series-Health and Wellness.

Last year, the Task Force created public service announcements to help reduce the stigma around opioid misuse and to combat the opioid epidemic. Local media production company MazzMedia  produced a series of 1-2 minute vignettes, using often emotional commentary by those affected by the opioid public health crisis. The 16-part series debuted on social media outlets last winter.

Established in 1979, the Telly Awards showcase the best work created within television and from across video, for all screens. Receiving over 13,000 entries in various categories from all 50 states and five continents, the award represents the work of a diverse group of Bristol stakeholders.

The Bristol Burlington Health District, Police Department, affected families who shared their stories, Bristol Hospital and EMS staff all played a vital role in the production.
