Walk to End Alzheimer’s event this Sunday in Bristol

This year’s Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Bristol will feature an online ceremony and a drive by “Promise Garden,” but involve more individual and small group participation on track and trails rather than at a central gathering place.

On Walk Day, Sunday, Oct. 4, an online opening ceremony will feature local speakers and the Promise Garden at the Federal Hill Green, Maple & Queen streets, between 12-2 p.m., according to a release for the organization.

Check the Walk to End Alzheimer’s mobile app, alz.org/walk, to find out about new features and opportunities to participate.

For instance, participants can use the app and new “Walk Mainstage” to track their steps and distance, follow a virtual Walk path, manage their Facebook fundraisers, and access information and resources from the Association and Walk sponsors to help those affected by the disease.

A new audio track will be available to encourage participants along the way and to congratulate them when they are finished walking.
