“It was an evenly played game, with both teams getting a few good shots and the goalies making solid saves,” said Lancer coach Bill Sweet. “We really pushed at the end of each half, but couldn’t put one in.”
Backs Brandon Greger, Andrew Lozier, Adam Borry, and Luke Hammer had consistent games in the back for the Lancers, who travel to New Britain and Willowbrook Park on Thursday.

The Lewis Mills girls soccer team (4-0-1) remained undefeated on the season as they jumped out to an early lead against Bristol Eastern and rolled to a 5-2 victory Wednesday afternoon.
In just the third minute of the game, Madison Hallet started the early scoring for the Spartans as she blasted a shot to the far post that beat Grace D’Amato (17 saves). The early scoring didn’t stop there as Julia Malejczyk (7th minute) and Abby Mills (15th minute) each netted breakaway goals to put Mills up 3-0.
The Lancers fought the rest of the half to keep that score at halftime.
The second half started similarly as Lewis Mills scored in just the second minute this time. Abby Mills scored her second, continuing her dominant performance. 10 minutes later, Lauren Seale tucked in the 5th and final goal for the Spartans.
Eastern (1-3-1) didn’t go away quietly, as they continued to battle. D’Amato turned away several Mills shots with some great saves in goal.
Eastern then came to life on the offensive end. Mikayla Gonzalez (first career assist) won a free ball from the back line and gave a great pass to Ciara Collins who tucked it away. Approximately five minutes later, Megan Krok beat Resmije Bylykbashi (7 saves) from the left side for her first career goal.
The Lancers turn around quickly as they host New Britain on Friday afternoon at 3:45.
