Bristol swimming co-op sinks Middletown in Region D meet

MIDDLETOWN – The Bristol boys swimming and diving co-op won another meet on Wednesday, downing Middletown by a 100-85 final from the pool at Middletown high school.

It was another victory for the Bristol Central/Bristol Eastern/St. Paul Catholic contingent in Central Connecticut Conference, Region D action as the locals nabbed several first place finishes.

Bristol took first place in several of the heats with Colton Litwinczyk winning the 200 free and 100 breast events.

Gabriel Bartolome was also a duel victor, taking the 200 IM and 100 fly races. 

Mikel Palaj won the 200 free, Aidan Collins took the 500 and Bristol was extremely successful over the relay showdowns.

The 200 medley relay team of Bartolome, Litwinczyk, Palaj and Drew Fries won their event, Palaj, David Kroll, Noah Taylor and Collins took the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay grouping of Palaj, Fries, Bartolome and Litwinczyk were also winners.

Also in the victory against the Blue Dragons, several Bristol swimmers raced up best times.

Ryleigh Dionne notched personal bests in both the 100 free and 100 back events as did Jacob Wilson (50 free and 500 free). 

Noah Taylor had his best ever showing in the 200 IM along with Joseph Niek (50 and 100 free) and Konrad Truszkowski (50 free and 100 fly). Collins scooped up his best time in the 500 free while Fries (100 free) did the same.

The Bristol program is back in action on Wednesday, March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, as the co-op squares off against Lewis Mills of Burlington in a CCC Region D showdown from the pool at the Dennis Malone Aquatic Center in Bristol.
