BRISTOL – The Bristol Central girls track and field team made a credible third place finish at the CCC South Divisional Conference Championships on Tuesday May 25 – scoring 100 points which was just 16 off runner-up Lewis Mills’ second place finish.
Bristol Eastern scored 51 points for sixth place.
The meet, from the campus of Bristol Central high school, saw several local athletes rope up first and second place finishes.
Taking first place for the Rams was the 4×800 meter relay team of Salvatrice Bosco, Sophia Stark, Bella Crandall and Natalia Popielarz – finishing in 10:28.42.
Central had a couple athletes make strong second place showings.
In the shot put, Krystal Rodriguez made a throw of 29 feet and 11.5 inches and Kylee Barnes (high jump) had a leap of 4 feet, 10 inches.
The Lancers 4×400 meter relay team came in first place as the grouping of Fiona Gallagher, Maura Cyr, Victoria Kosciukiewicz and Avery Braccia won in 4:24.97 – taking home CCC South All-Conference honors in the process.
Also nabbing first place was Mackenzie Fitzsimons in the javelin (107 feet, one inch) as her toss was nearly 18 feet better than the second place finisher (89’ 3).
And in the 800, Victoria Kosciukiewicz was the runner-up with a time of 2:29.23.
Both Fitzsimons and Kosciukiewicz earned All-Conference honors.
