The City of Bristol issued the following public service release today.
The Mayor’s Office, United Way, and FoodShare together are offering another round of the Farmers to Families Produce Distribution program Thursday, July 15.
Distribution will take place from 4pm-6:30pm, or until the boxes run out at the Bristol Department of Public Works Garage at 95 Vincent P. Kelly Road.
The next scheduled events are Thursday, August 5 and Thursday, August 19 from 4pm-6:30pm.
“The free program is sponsored by the American Rescue Plan Act and is being handled through Foodshare. The boxes include approximately 25 pounds of produce,” stated Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu.
“The boxes are large, so we also encourage people to share with a neighbor or family members to ensure nothing goes to waste,” said Donna Osuch, President of the United Way.
The pallets of food boxes will be unloaded from the trucks and divided with volunteers at each station. The line of cars will be directed into drive-thru lines where the food will be placed into the back seat or trunk of each vehicle. The entire distribution is contact-less and adheres to all Covid precautions.
Traffic should follow signage from Middle Street to Cross Street to Vincent P. Kelly Rd, following the traffic pattern developed by the Traffic division.
