Farmers to Families final food distribution scheduled for August 19th

The City of Bristol issued the following press release on Monday, August 16.

The Mayor’s Office, United Way, and FoodShare together are offering the final round of Farmers to Families Produce Distribution program on Thursday, August 19

Distribution will take place from 4pm-6:30pm *or until the boxes run out at the Bristol Department of Public Works Garage at 95 Vincent P. Kelly Road. 


“The free program sponsored by the American Rescue Plan Act and is being handled through Foodshare. The boxes include approximately 25 pounds of produce,” stated Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu. 


“We have confirmed with Foodshare that this is the last of these programs to be scheduled,” said Donna Osuch, President of the United Way. 

The pallets of food boxes will be unloaded from the trucks and divided with volunteers at each station. The line of cars will be directed into drive-thru lines where the food will be placed into the back seat or trunk of each vehicle. The entire distribution is contact-less and adheres to all Covid precautions.      

Traffic should follow signage from Middle Street to Cross Street to Vincent P. Kelly Rd, following the traffic pattern developed by the Traffic division.
