The Mum Festival Committee has issued the following press release.
Car Show Will Honor the Legacy of Festival Volunteer and Car Enthusiast Jim Foote
The Bristol Exchange Club and the Mum Festival Committee, which put on the annual Mum Festival, Bristol’s fall marquee community-focused event for almost 60 years, is proud to announce that this year’s Car Show will be held on September 25th in memory of local car enthusiast Jim Foote, who served as the Mum Festival Car Show Chair in years past.
“Jim Foote gave his heart and soul to revamping the Mum Festival Car Show and building it into one of our most successful attractions”, said Jack Ferraro, Mum FestivalGeneral Chair. “We, unfortunately, lost Jim to Covid this past year, and words cannot describe what the loss meant to us as individuals and as a Mum Festival Committee. We hope to honor his legacy by continuing his work and holding the car show under the direction of Jim’s loving wife, Bev Foote, with the support of Team Bristol in his memory.Bev asked if she could chair the 2021 Mum Festival Car Show, and we are so honored to have Bev as our Chair this year.”
As this year’s Mum Festival moves to Downtown Bristol, the Car Show will be held in the new Bristol Health Parking Lot on Saturday, September 25th from 1:00 – 5:00 pm. The show has room for a couple of hundred cars to be on display and car enthusiasts interested in entering a car should contact Mum Festival Car Show chair, Bev Foote at 860.585.0625, or via email at bevexchangeclub@yahoo.com.
Gates open at noon, and there is a $10 entry fee for cars to participate. The show will feature trophies, raffles, and driver drawings. All money raised by the Car Show will benefit the Prevention of Child Abuse.
“Jimmy would be happy to see the Car show live on as part of the Mum Festival”, commented Bev Foote, Car Show Chair. “He meant so much to so many people, and this is a great way to pay tribute to his passion for cars and to his contribution to our city. I will be presenting a special trophy in memory of Jimmy, so I hope to see his car friends participate as we gather to celebrate his special love for antique and vintage cars.”
