On Saturday, Sept. 25th at 11 a.m., the dedication of a monument to
Bristol’s most decorated WWII soldier, General Edward Wozenski, will
take place on Memorial Boulevard.
Wozenski was a Captain in WWII. He fought through the North African Campaign, the Allied invasion of Sicily, and Omaha Beach on D-Day. He then continued through Europe.
His awards include two Distinguished Service Crosses, two Silver Stars and one
Bronze Star. He has been recognized in many books and D-Day movies.
He later served with the Connecticut National Guard, attaining the rank of
Brigadier General.
Parking for the ceremony will be available on the Boulevard and at the
American Legion on Riverside Avenue.
