On Friday, the City of Bristol announced that it had received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for Bristol’s comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020.
The city’s financial report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
The Certificate of Achievement is considered the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
“These awards are indicative of the dedication of the staff in the Comptroller’s Office to continue to receive these awards. This is the 34th year the City has received this award. These awards are viewed very highly by the rating agencies. I want to give special recognition to the efforts of Robin Manuele, Assistant Comptroller, Jodi McGrane, Assistant to the Comptroller and Skip Gillis, Senior Accountant,” said Diane Waldron, Comptroller.
