Doris Laurianne (Taillon) Mailhot, 88, of Bristol, widow of Raymond Mailhot, Sr., passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 22, surrounded by her loving family.
Doris was born on July 12, 1933, in Bristol, daughter of the late Joseph and Ludivine (Angers) Taillon. Doris was a graduate of St. Anne grade school in Bristol and Presentation of Mary High School in New Hampshire. Upon graduation from high school in 1951, she held various clerical jobs and retired from The Hartford Insurance Company. After meeting the love of her life, Raymond, she dedicated most of her life to raising their seven children. She spoke French fluently all her life after growing up in a French household. She was a parishioner of St. Matthew Church in Forestville. Doris and Raymond enjoyed many years of vacations at Cape Cod, square dancing, and riding on their Honda Gold Wing. They also enjoyed traveling in their RV with their children and later in life with their grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Thomas (Sheree) Mailhot of Bristol, Normand Mailhot of Bloomfield, Gail (Grady) Straun of Bristol, Terri Mailhot of Bristol, Christopher (Debbie) Mailhot of Bristol, Raymond Mailhot Jr. (Nannette Miner) of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and her brother Ray Taillon, of Bristol. She leaves her cherished 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, David; her brother Paul Taillon; and sisters Jeanette Anagiro, Yvette Noon and Simone Stafford. Special thanks to the staff at Bristol Hospital for making her final days comfortable.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at 9 a.m. from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Matthew Church, 120 Church St., Bristol, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
