Mantels for the Season at the American Clock & Watch Museum

The American Clock & Watch Museum is making final preparations for its 4th Annual Mantels for the Season event, which is slated to run from Friday, November 19th through January 2, 2022.

Mantels in the museum’s eight galleries will be decorated by members of Bristol’s Museum Collaborative who have created a wide range of designs that showcases their history and collections.

Lindsay Vigue, co-chair of the City Arts & Culture Commission, said, “Museums are community treasures. They tell the stories of our city, preserve our history, and tell the stories of where we came from. The American Clock and Watch Museum encapsulates Bristol’s history as a world leader in clock manufacturing and does so in such a unique and creative way.”

“With the event extended to January 2nd, we encourage everyone to make plans to visit us to see all of the displays and make sure to check out our museum shop’s unique gift selections,” stated Executive Director, Patti Philippon.

This year’s participants include The New England Carousel Museum, The Museum of Fire History, The Environmental Learning Centers of Connecticut, The Memorial Military Museum, The Boys & Girls Club of Bristol-Imagine Nation, A Museum Early Learning Center Unit, Bristol Historical Society, and American Clock & Watch Museum.

When you come to view the mantels, be sure to vote for your favorite. There will be special containers in the museum’s reception area where visitors can cast a vote for their favorite mantel. $1 = 1 vote. The museum that designed the winning mantel will receive 50% of the total amount collected.

This event is supported by Bristol Health and the City Arts & Culture Commission.

Mantels for the Season is included in the price of admission. The museum is open Wednesday-Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Visit the website for holiday hours.
