Ellen Zoppo-Sassu appointed Town Manager in Enfield

Last night, Former Bristol Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu was unanimously chosen (9-0) by the Enfield town council to be Enfield’s interim town manager. The position becomes effective today.

Zoppo-Sassu, who was interviewed last week for the position, was among three applicants for the job. Enfield mayor Bob Cressotti said, “She was the number one choice.”

The position became available when Town Manager Christopher W. Bromson abruptly resigned in the midst of a town council meeting. The resignation became effective Dec. 6.

In 2017, Zoppo-Sassu was elected Bristol’s first female mayor and was re-elected in 2019.
During her tenure, Bristol’s grand list increased by 1.87%, most of the parcels in Centre Square were sold and several departments were merged, improving the city’s efficiency.

Zoppo-Sassu told the TBE that she is looking forward to what lays ahead. “I am looking forward to this opportunity and using all of my government and policy skills within the Enfield community. So far, I’ve been so impressed with the town, its employees, elected officials and overall sense of community.”

Her first day at the helm included meetings with the police chief, HR Director, health District Director and finance director.
