An uptick in COVID has forced the Bristol Public schools to postpone scholastic games and practices until next week.
The plan is to reassess the situation after the actual Christmas holiday.
“Due to an increase in positive COVID cases and confirmed transmission among athletes, all BPS athletic programs, games and practices will be paused immediately,” according to an email obtained from the Bristol Public Schools.
The status of all programs will be reevaluated on Monday, December 27.”
Both boys and girls basketball at Bristol Central and Bristol Eastern have been postponed as well as road games for both teams.
The Lancers were scheduled to compete against Lewis Mills while the Rams were going to be in action against Middletown in Central Connecticut Conference showdowns.
Those four contests were the only events taking place between now and Christmas.
