Michael T. Georgen, 69, of Bristol, beloved husband of Currie (Mazzone) Georgen, died peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 26, at home.
Michael was born in Stamford on Aug. 21, 1952, and was a son of the late Robert and Jean (Panter) Georgen. He was raised in Fairfield where he graduated from Notre Dame High School. He continued his studies in the Connecticut State University system earning his bachelors, masters, and sixth year degrees in education.
His passion for teaching began at Wheeler Clinic in Plainville. A Bristol resident for the past 35 years, he was a Supervisor of Special Education for the Bristol Board of Education before retiring. After retirement, he continued his work as a consultant. He enjoyed golfing, skiing, fishing, and cooking especially sharing a good meal with family and friends.
In addition to his wife of 38 years, Michael is survived by two sons: Michael Georgen-Wester and husband, Aaron Georgen-Wester of New York City, and Timothy Georgen and wife, Maria Zapata-Georgen of Delray Beach, Fla.; four siblings: Carol Mayoussier, Kathleen Georgen, Rosemarie Tomasio, and Lawrence Georgen and wife, Jan; his first grandchild, a granddaughter due in May: Luciana; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister: Margaret Georgen and brother-in-law: Bruno Mayoussier.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at Funk Funeral Home 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Tuesday, Jan. 4, between 5 and 7:30 p.m. followed by Service to Remember at 7:30 p.m. (Masks will be required.) Burial will be private.
