Ms. Miller brings over 20 years of hospitality and event operations and management experience to the new event center. She previously held the position of director of catering for the Connecticut Convention Center for the past ten years.
“Julia has the demonstrated experience and in-depth knowledge of the conference and event market to successfully launch the new Bristol Event Center,” said Mr. Frenis. “She is a significant addition to the Bristol Event Center leadership team.”
Located adjacent to the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel on Century Drive in Bristol, CT, the $25 million expanded hospitality campus will include a 30,000 square foot conference/event center.
The Bristol Event Center will feature a 9,400 square foot main ballroom area, with a 30-foot-high ceiling and a dance floor, accommodating up to 750 people conference style or 550 people for sit-down dinners or weddings. The venue will also include 8,100 square feet of luxury pre-function space and two bridal/executive suites, each approximately 940 square feet in size.
Elegant and expansive outdoor gathering areas, totaling 8,200 square feet, will complement the indoor venues, providing relaxing fresh-air options for individuals and small groups, private parties, and photographs. The Bristol Event Center is expected to open in January 2023.
As general manager, Ms. Miller will oversee operations, sales and marketing for the convention center. Ms. Miller has a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel Restaurant Management from Johnson & Wales University and is a Certified Food Safety Manager. In 2011, she was named a Hartford Business Journal Forty Under Forty winner and in 2013 received the Connect Magazine Industry Leader Award. Ms. Miller serves on the Board of Directors for the Meeting Professional International Connecticut River Chapter.
“It is a privilege to be a part of this exciting and unique hospitality venue,” said Ms. Miller. “I am honored to lead the team that will open the doors to this new and innovative space, currently unmatched in central Connecticut.”
The expanded hospitality complex will also feature a new four-story hotel. The 90-suite HOME2 Suites by Hilton hotel, one of the fastest-growing brands in Hilton’s history, will feature all-suite stylish accommodations with flexible guest room configurations. An underground parking garage and pedestrian walkways will connect the event center and new hotel with the existing DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton Bristol. The Bristol Event Center and hotels are owned by Dr. Gerald Niznick, a Las Vegas entrepreneur, and managed by PHG.
