Bristol- Over the years, Platt high school has proven to have a very good wrestling program – always challenging the teams from the Mum City.

But on Wednesday night, Bristol Eastern was able to wrangle up a win, downing the Panthers via a 43-30 home victory.

The Lancers, now 3-2 overall (2-0 CCC South), made some big gains over the meet as Platt (12-5) lost for only the fifth time in 17 outings.

Both sides earned forfeit wins over the fray while at 113 pounds, Eastern’s Luke Viens got to the pay window – pinning Platt’s Nathaniel Ortiz in 3:03 – while Anthony Silva (120) did not have a competitor to square off against.

At 126, Eastern’s Michael Roalf nabbed a major decision against Edward Waters by a 16-6 final.

Also for the Kingstreeters, Gabe White (132) took a 6-1 decision over Platt’s Joel Yaport and then at 145, Eastern’s Josh Aubin was at it again.

He pinned Luis Caban in just 62 seconds and at 160, Alex Marshall dropped the Panthers’ Ahmed Hernandez via pinfall in 4:44.

Kaiden Dionne (170) picked up a 5-2 decision over Platt’s Darren Gibbons while Eastern’s two heavyweights were both victorious.

The Lancers’ Owen Broyles (220) took only 1:15 to earn the pin over Isaiah Smith and Evan Gleifert (285) took a 3-2 decision against Aiden McCarty.

Eastern has a busy Saturday at Xavier in Middletown, squaring off against all sorts of competition.

The Lancers, along with Bristol Central, are slated to compete against several programs from both Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Meet time is slated for 9 a.m.
