St. Paul girls run record to 9-1 with 57-49 victory over Seymour

Basketball

The St. Paul girls basketball team knew they were facing a tough opponent on Wednesday night, but that idea was reinforced when they looked at the scoreboard and saw Seymour leading 16-12 at the end of the first quarter. But the Falcons were unfazed, went ahead by 2 at the half, and continued to work their way to a 57-49 win by the final buzzer.

The Falcons rode the hot shooting of Audrey Tice with 19 points to pull away in the second half. Nadia Reimer continued her outstanding play with a 15 point total, and Izzy Leggett added 12.

Alexis Tierpack was a force on the boards with 9 rebounds, and Zoey Rubins dished out 7 assists on the night.

Seymour’s Kenzie Sirowich was almost unstoppable, totaling 28 points, keeping her team in the contest from start to finish. Skylar Barton had 16, as she and Sirowich accounted for all but 5 of their team’s total.

St. Paul hits the half-way mark of the season with a 9-1 record. Seymour is now 9-3.

The Falcons end a busy week at Woodland Friday night at 6:45.
