It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother and friend Peter David Burke, 83, of Bristol, who died of natural causes on Thursday, Jan. 27, at home.
Peter was born in Bristol on Feb. 25, 1938, and was a son of the late Thomas Burke, Sr. and Catherine (Rogers) Burke. A lifelong Bristol resident, he graduated from St. Joseph School and St. Anthony High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy for five years as a Radioman First Class traveling all over the world. He retired in 2005 after a long career in retail sales. In his youth, he enjoyed swimming and diving, basketball and ice skating and had natural ability in all of them. He loved all music, but his favorite was Jazz, and he had quite a collection. Pete was an avid reader and was comfortable talking on just about any topic. He had a great sense of humor and often related it to his topic. He also had a great love for cars which lasted throughout his life, and he owned many favorites along the way.
Peter is survived by his siblings: Thomas Burke, Jr. and wife, Marianne (Trijonis), Patricia Smith and husband, Murdo, Terrence Burke and wife, Kathleen (Tenney), and Catherine Burke Lopez; nieces and nephews: Michael Burke, Laurie Roberge, Susan Blasi, Tammy Brown, Terry Armington, Dianne Vinci, Murdo Smith, Courtney Burke, Shannon Ryan, Thomas Lopez, Martin Lopez, and Patrick Lopez who all loved Uncle Pete dearly.
