Richard L. Bilodeau, 76, of Bristol, widower of Frances (Merchant) Bilodeau, died on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, at Amberwoods of Farmington. Richard was born on Sept. 9, 1945, in Bristol and was a son of the late David and Cecile (Duguay) Bilodeau.
A lifelong Bristol resident, he attended local schools and served six years in the Connecticut Army National Guard. He enjoyed a career with the Bristol Fire Department serving mostly at Engine 4. He was a fan of old cars, enjoyed fishing and crabbing, and was a member of the Bristol Polish Club.
Richard is survived by two children: Cheryl Rivera and husband, Fernando of Bristol, and Richard D. Bilodeau of New Hartford; his beloved granddaughter, Christi Anna Rivera; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings: Joseph “Junior” Bilodeau, Lionel Bilodeau, Irene Schilling, and Doris Stapleford.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 11:30 a.m. at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Friday between 4 and 7 p.m.
