Pauline S. Casey

Pauline S. Casey, 72, of Bristol, died on Saturday, Feb. 12, at The Pines at Bristol. Pauline was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada on Dec. 18, 1949, and was a daughter of the late Gerald B. and Marie Anita (Goguen) Casey.  

She was a lifelong Bristol resident and graduate of St. Ann Grammar School and Bristol Eastern High School. She attended nursing school before going to work for Travelers, The Hartford, and Trumpf, Inc. before retiring. A devout Catholic, she was a parishioner and daily communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church, Plainville. 

Her ministries throughout her life included serving as a lector, eucharistic minister, coordinator of eucharistic ministers at Bristol Hospital for 22 years, and a lay minister commissioned by the Archdiocese of Hartford in 2004. She was a Third Order Franciscan and member of the Legion of Mary and the Eucharist Divine Mercy Apostles Cenacle. She is a St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation recipient. 

She leaves two sisters: Jeannette Varkal of Plainville, and Muriel O’Dell and husband, Jack of Bristol; a nephew: John O’Dell; six great-nieces and great-nephews; and one great-great-nephew. She was predeceased by a nephew: Patrick O’Dell. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad St., Plainville. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. 

The family will visit with friends at the church on Friday between 9 and 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of Mercy Church, 19 South Canal St., Plainville, CT 06062.
