Robert R. Leone, 82, of Bristol, widower of Mary B. (Wilson) Leone, died on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford.
Bob was born in New Britain on July 31, 1939, and was a son of the late Rafael and Mary (Pagliaro) Leone. He was raised in New Britain where he worked and purchased John’s Fruit Market on Lafayette St. He then went on to work construction, for many years, at Fafnir Co. where he was an active union representative, Jerry’s Auto Body, and Shaw’s Supermarket before retiring.
He was an avid pool shooter playing in many leagues and tournaments and winning many awards and trophies. He enjoyed watching old western movies, drawing, karaoke, and was a longtime coin collector. He was a recipient of a lifesaving citizen award from Farmington Police and loved spending time with his family.
Bob is survived by a son: Gary Leone and wife, Lynne of Bristol; daughters: Kristine Butler and husband, Otis, and Cathy Robillard and husband, Emil, all of Bristol; grandchildren: Jason and Douglas Robillard, Mark Lubelczyk, Ryan Brewer-Leone and Jake and Gianna Leone; great granddaughter: Emily Robillard; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Rafael “Dicky” Leone, and a sister, Mary Krolikowski.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 28, 11 a.m. at Prospect United Methodist Church, 99 Summer St., Bristol. Burial will follow in Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol.
