Several local scholastic teams opened up the 2021-22 spring campaign on Monday.
The Central girls lacrosse program started the year off with a win while the Eastern girls tennis and softball squads drew losses.
Here’s a look at some of the action from in and around Bristol:
BE Softball
Hall (West Hartford) 6, Bristol Eastern 2
Eastern’s Grace D’Amato belted out a two-run home run but the Lancers fell to 0-2 on the campaign with a four-run loss in West Hartford.
BE Girls Tennis
Simsbury 6, Bristol Eastern 1
The Eastern girls tennis team traveled to Simsbury on Monday and fell on the road, 6-1. Brooke Treannie picked up the only victory of the afternoon for the Lancers in No. 1 singles action.
BC Girls Lacrosse
Bristol Central 8, Wolcott 4
The Rams picked up an impressive 8-4 victory from Monroe Field in Wolcott. Central’s Maddie Secor led the charge with four goals while teammate Abby Duval added two scores. Ava Bouchard and Emma Burciaga each tallied a goal for Central as the squad moved to 1-0 off the win against the Eagles.
“Alyah Rodriguez Warren was a wall in goal with 14 saves,” said Central coach Kyle Phelan via Twitter. “[It was a] great way to get the season going!”
