BRISTOL – It’s not unheard of but a stalemate in scholastic track and field can occur from time to time.
And it happened to the girls squad from Bristol Central on Tuesday as the Rams tied Platt over a 73-73 final.
The meet in Bristol saw several local athletes earn first place tallies.
The 4×800 squad, consisting of Katie Tran, Maura Waters, Johannie Juarez, and Janelle Brand took first place with a time of 12:32.
And in the 4×400 relay event, Central’s squad roped up the win in 4:38.
Lynae Lewis did a very good job in the 400 meters, finishing first with a time of 1:05.7 and in the two-mile challenge, Waters was back at it again.
In the challenging 3200 meters, Waters was the victor in 15:20.
And then in the field, the Rams dominated the jumping events.
In the long jump, Central’s Destinee Craft scooped up first place with a leap of 15 feet, eight inches.
Then in the high jump, Kylee Barnes made a successful attempt of four feet, six inches.
Barnes made it 2-for-2 when she won the triple jump, snaring the victory with a make of 32 feet and half an inch.
Next Week…
Central travels to Middletown on Tuesday to square off against the Blue Dragons. Meet time is 3:45 p.m.
