In the past week, both Greg Hahn and Andrew Rasmussen-Tuller announced their candidacies for state office.
Hahn, who recently served on the City Council for two terms, is running for the state senate seat currently occupied by Henry Martin. The District 31 State Senate seat, represents Bristol, Harwinton, Plainville, Plymouth, Terryville, and Thomaston.
In his terms on City Council, Hahn said that he experienced firsthand the urgent need for a State Senator who is willing to put aside politics to work towards real results for the people of the 31st District.
Rasmussen-Tuller is running as the Democratic candidate for the 77th House District and will once again challenge Cara Pavalock-D’Amato, who recently moved out of the district and is embroiled in a State Elections Enforcement Commission investigation.
A Bristol native, Rasmussen-Tuller has served on the City of Bristol Economic and Community Development Board since 2019. He owns a local Real Estate brokerage, and his background includes retail and manufacturing management. In his time on the ECDB, Rasmussen-Tuller has focused on the bi-partisan plans to develop Bristol’s Centre Square.
Rasmussen-Tuller stated, “I have seen a startling lack of representation in the 77th district and want to change that. I want to work for the people of our district by changing how things are done in Hartford and bringing more of our tax dollars back home to Bristol.”
