BURLINGTON – The Bristol Eastern girls track and field team did a credible job on Tuesday against Lewis Mills on the road, dropping a tough 81-55 decision in a CCC South entanglement from Burlington.
The Spartans proved to be a stern challenge for the Kingstreeters but the locals still managed to pick up a first-place tally or two along the way.
The Lancers’ 4×800 relay squad captured the event in a time of 13:25 but Mills ended up seizing first place tallies in both the 4×400 and 4×100 events.
Eastern’s Fiona Gallagher had a day on the track, securing big wins in the 800, 1600, and 3200-meter challenges.
In the 1600, Gallagher won the mile event in 5:53 while in the 800, she hustled to take the race in 2:39.
And in the 3200, Gallagher took first place with a finish of 13:33.
In the discus, Natalia Morris won the event with a toss of sixty feet and in the javelin, Lauren Ayotte posted a successful make of 64 feet for first place in less-than-ideal weather conditions.
The Lancers are home this coming Tuesday, taking on Middletown in another CCC South confrontation.
Meet time is 3:45 p.m. from Alumni Field in Bristol.
