A Summer Day at Rockwell Park

By Laura Bailey

Families having picnics, couples walking their dogs and children running through the splash pad were just a few of the quintessential summer sights at Rockwell Park this weekend.

After a week of scorching temperatures in the mid to high 90s, lifelong Bristol native Elizabeth Grant was eager to spend some time outside.

“I was sitting by the AC for days waiting to come here and sit on my favorite bench.” said Grant. “I like to walk by the water and look for turtles.”

There were turtles basking by the dozens on the sunny rocks, and frogs camouflaged in the shady reeds.

Eight-year-old William was eagerly awaiting his chance to go swimming.

“I’m having the best day with my dad” said William. “I went in the splash pad before; now I’m waiting for the pool to open.”

A walk on the boardwalk brought gorgeous views of the park’s plant life, before stopping to relax by the smaller pond.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
