Reynold Begin of Bristol, husband of Ginette (Lizotte) Begin and widower of Lise (Laprise) Begin, died on Saturday, Aug. 13, at home. Reynold was born on June 25 in St. Ludger, Quebec, Canada, and was a son of the late Roger and Rose (Letourneau) Begin. He was raised and lived in St. Ludger until coming to Bristol in 1963.
He was a truck driver for 45 years before retiring. He enjoyed playing hockey in his younger years and making maple syrup on his property. An avid hunter, he loved hunting with his son, Steve, and grandsons Ethan and Nathan. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Parish devoted to St. Ann Church, Bristol.
In addition to his wife, Reynold is survived by three children: Steve Begin and wife, Melissa of Bristol, Christine Dauphinee and husband, John of Bristol, and Debra Begin of Monroe; a step-son: Chad Simard and wife, Amanda of Bristol; his siblings: Fernand Begin of St. Ludger, Canada, Viateur (Eliane) Begin of Wilton, Normand (Micheline) Begin of St. Ludger, Colette Beaudoin of St. Gedeon, Canada, Lilian Rodrigue (Paulin) of Shelton, Pauline (Aurel) Beaudoin of Quebec, and Marjolaine (Ali) Hamrouni of Trois Riviere, Canada; he was known as “Dodo” by his 14 grandchildren who were the love of his life: Brandon, Ethan, Nathan Begin, Elijah and Halle Begin, Morgan, Brooke, Drew, Chase, and Harper Dauphinee, Lexi, Alden, Scarlett, and Kash Simard; many nieces, nephews, and relatives in the Laprise and Lizotte families.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, at 9 a.m. from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Ann Church, 215 West St., Bristol, for a Mass of Christian of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
