Bristol Eastern travelled to Storrs to take on perennial state power E.O. Smith in volleyball on Monday, and the Lancers came away with a big four set victory.
Eastern split the first two sets, winning the first by a score of 26-24 and losing the second 25-27. The two sets were both seat-squirming affairs, as both teams had multiple chances to win.
The Lancers then ran off sets three and four by scores of 25-16 and 25-19. The long bus ride back to Bristol was a satisfying one, as an early-season challenge was well-met.
Bristol Eastern was led in victory by Alyssa Valentine, who served 2 aces and dished out 35 assists. Captain Lauren Bender was all over the court, serving up 4 aces and knocking down 20 kills. And Lilli Lowe came up big for the Lancers with 7 aces and 7 kills.
E.O. Smith was led by Bella Mallory with 7 kills, 3 aces, and 4 blocks. Sierra York added 4 kills, 5 aces, and 4 digs for E.O. Smith
B.E. is now 2-0, and will face Farmington on Wednesday for a 6:00 varsity match-up from the Lancerdome.
All TBE readers, supporters and donors
The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.
- Non-members will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
- Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
- Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.
Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
