German Fest returns to Immanuel Lutheran Church this weekend

Traditional German food, music and vendors will return to the Immanuel Lutheran Church for their annual German Fest this Friday and Saturday.

The festivities will kick off at 6 p.m. Friday night with Mayor Jeffrey Caggiano tapping the first keg, with food, brews and music to enjoy until 9 p.m. Friday night’s menu features traditional German vesperplatte; a platter containing a selection of German meats, cheese, pickles, onion and bread.

German Fest will continue from 12 to 6 p.m. on Saturday and feature live music from the Liederkranz Singers and Alpine Squeeze. Children will have free access to Kinderland, where they can participate in scavenger hunts and raingutter regattas.

Saturday’s all-day menu includes potato pancakes, roasted pork & gravy and spätzle, as well as home-made German desserts.

Bratwurst, hotdogs, pretzels, sauerkraut and imported German brews will be served in the tented biergarten on both Friday and Saturday.

Admission to the festival is free, and a valid photo ID will be required to receive a wristband for purchase of alcoholic beverages.

Parking will be available on West Street in Dunn Funeral Home parking lot, as well as on North Main Street across from the Police Station. A limited amount of handicapped parking is available in the Church’s parking lot.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
