Playful days and spooky nights are coming to Bristol as Lake Compounce debuts an all-new Halloween season. Beginning this weekend, “Phantom Fall Fest” will offer a family friendly experience during the day and spine-chilling scenes at night.
“We haven’t had scary since 2019,” said Lynsey Winters. “Now all the haunts are new, with haunted houses and scare zones throughout the park.”
Winters is the marketing director for Lake Compounce
The park will be open for family fun on Saturdays and Sundays in October from 12 noon to 6 p.m. All dry rides will be open, including kiddie land rides, and children will have the opportunity to make their own slime.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights will bring frights from 6 to 10 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to enter three themed haunted houses, walk through three themed scare zones, and ride their favorite rides.
“Everything is walk through,” said Winters. “All our haunts are ongoing, so guests can do something like go through a haunted house, then jump on Boulder Dash.”
All the haunts were designed by RWS Entertainment Group and are exclusive to Lake Compounce. Ninety-one actors were hired to work at the scare zones and haunted houses around the park.
One of the scariest attractions in the park is “The Root of All Evil” haunted house, which pairs frightening sights against beautiful garden scenery. Guests step into the once-grand manor of Dr. Belladonna Thornwoode who has gone mad on her quest for perfection. Both her home and famous garden now lie in ruins, and her terrifying creations await visitors around every corner.
The “Witches’ Revenge” scare zone brings Connecticut history to life with a terrifying twist. Three hundred years after the Connecticut witch trials, guests will come face to face with the witches that have returned and taken over Lake Compounce.
Thrilling rides will be operating throughout the evening, including the popular Phobia Phear Coaster. The triple-launch coaster reaches spreads up to 65 m.p.h. with a cobra roll 150 ft. in the air.
“It’s a really smooth ride,” said Winters. “Right before you drop at the top, the view of the park is gorgeous.”
All the haunts, attractions, and rides are included with the price of admission, except for “mAlice in wonderland.” The chilling choose-your-own-adventure haunted house will offer guests two different paths for an additional $5 fee: down the rabbit hole or through the looking glass.
Guests must be 14 years or older to attend Phantom Fall Fest after 6 p.m., and guests under 18 must be accompanied by a chaperone over the age of 21.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors
The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.
- Non-members will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
- Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
- Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.
Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
