The Department of Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services and the Bristol Police Department have issued the following request to the community.
The City of Bristol Police Department and the Department of Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services are teaming up to ask community members to help “Stuff-A-Cruiser” to benefit the City’s Holiday Gift Giving Program. The goal is to fill Bristol Police cruisers with new, unwrapped toys for Bristol youth up to 18 years of age.
The event will be held this Saturday, Nov. 19 at Walmart in Bristol, 1400 Farmington Ave., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Police cruisers, officers, and BPRYCS staff will be stationed outside collecting donations. All donations will go towards the BPRYCS Annual Holiday Gift Giving Program, which provides assistance to income-eligible youth and families during the holiday season.
Santa will be on hand and community members are invited to enjoy holiday music and write a letter to the North Pole.
Police Lieutenant Robert Osborne expressed his excitement for Saturday, stating “We’ve received such an incredible outpouring of support from every facet of the community and beyond over the past couple of weeks. I’m optimistic we can channel some of that support into our efforts to provide assistance to Bristol residents in need this Holiday Season.”
Community Services Coordinator, Aubrey Minkler will also be in attendance on Saturday, “I’m really looking forward to it. The generosity and support we’ve seen up to this point has been so uplifting.” Minkler went on, “With the holidays approaching it can be a hard time for so many people, we invite everyone out to stop by in person, spread some holiday cheer, and support local youth through the Holiday Gift Giving Program.”
If you’re unable to make it, additional opportunities to get involved, receive assistance, and or donate are available through the Holiday Gift Giving Program with the Department of Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community services through December 23rd. Community members are invited to visit www.BistolRec.com to learn more.
