Bristol resident Dave Stevens has been appointed to the board of directors at Easterseals Capital Region & Eastern Connecticut. Stevens brings his life-long experience as an all-abilities athlete and Emmy-Award-winning communications abilities to Easterseals to further their mission of providing
critical services to those with disabilities and veterans to help them participate fully in their community.
Stevens is an Emmy-Award-winning broadcasting professional with ongoing success in the creation of on-air content. He has worked for 37 years in Sports Television, including winning seven Emmys during his 20-year career at ESPN. Born without legs and put up for adoption at birth, he became the only legless college football player in NCAA history and was good enough to try out for the Dallas Cowboys. He was the only legless professional baseball player in sports history, starting games at second base and even pinch hitting in a game for Darryl Strawberry. Dave is an Easterseals Ambassador, passionate about inclusion, and has been a keynote speaker at major Easterseals events—encouraging all to believe in “all abilities and limitless possibilities.”
