GLASTONBURY – The annual Central Connecticut Conference wrestling meet took place this past weekend from Glastonbury High School as both Bristol public school programs made up part of the fray.
Bristol Central ended up placing 15th at the event with 74 points scored while Bristol Eastern (18th, 64 points) was 10 points behind the Rams in the overall standings.
East Hartford won the event with 235.5 points while runner-up RHAM (203.5) was a distant second place finisher.
The top five was rounded out by Simsbury (198 points), Avon (194) and Berlin (148).
Central had two grapplers reach the medal rounds while Eastern chimed in with one.
In the consolation round of the 138-pound division, Central’s Landon Dionne earned a hard-fought 4-3 decision over home standing Andrew De la rosa to claim third place at the event.
And then in fifth place bouts, both Central’s Lincoln Archibald and Eastern’s Adam Zavecz were in the mix
Archibald (152 pounds) was a forfeit winner over Hall’s Ryan Zydanowicz for fifth place while Zavecz (182) dropped a tough 4-2 decision to Christian Sewell of Windsor.
This weekend’s CCC extravaganza was just a sampling of what to expect this Wednesday evening when Central and Eastern duke it out in a CCC South showcase event.
Bout time is 6 p.m. from the Charles C. Marsh Gymnasium on the campus of Bristol Central High School.
