St. Paul cruises to easy win in NVL quarterfinals, advances to face Torrington tonight

St. Paul had little difficulty in the first round of the NVL playoffs, jumping all over Oxford for a 64-30 victory Saturday In a game played at Kennedy in Waterbury.

The Falcons left little in doubt right from the opening tap, outscoring their opponent 25-11 in the first quarter and expanding the lead from that point to the half. St. Paul coach Joe Mone played the entire bench liberally in the second half as many subs got valuable tournament experience.

Audrey Tice was on fire for the Falcons, scoring 25 points, including five three-pointers. Rebecca Kelly had 15 points and missed a double-double by a single rebound, as she pulled down nine boards.

Morgan Brimecombe Led Oxford with 14 points.

NVL Tournament continues tonight

The #3 seed, St. Paul moves on to the semi-finals tonight to face #2 Torrington. The Falcons went 0-2 against the Red Raiders during the regular season and are anxious to have another chance to pin a defeat on their northern neighbors. This game will also be played at Kennedy High School in Waterbury at 5:30.

The #1 seed Holy Cross will face #4 Wolcott at 7:00.
