Local business owner and lifelong Bristol resident Scott Rosado announced his intent to run for Mayor of the City of Bristol Friday at an event hosted by Primo Press.
“I am proud of the accomplishments that happened during my time on the council,” said Rosado. “I am honored to have helped to establish Bristol’s Diversity Council among many other initiatives that took place while I was a councilman.”
The Democratic mayoral candidate filed his paperwork with the city of Bristol on Wednesday. He will challenge incumbent Republican Jeffrey Caggiano in this year’s municipal elections in November.
“As a community, we need to work together and continuously move Bristol forward,” continued Rosado. “I am excited to run for Mayor to work in the best interest of Bristol’s residents and businesses.”
The event was attended by over 150 friends, family, and community members, including Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz, former Bristol Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu, and former City Councilor Greg Hahn.
Rosado served as a City Councilor in Bristol’s First Council District from his appointment to the City Council in February 2019 until the end of his elected 2-year term in November 2021. Following his City Council term, Rosado served on the city’s Police Commission.
Under the Zoppo-Sassu administration, Rosado supported Bristol’s downtown revitalization project, including the Wheeler Health headquarters and Carrier apartment projects that have recently broken ground in Downtown.
Rosado owns M.R. Home Care, a Bristol company that provides medical care for senior citizens, as well as a screen printing and embroidery business, Primo Press, located on Riverside Avenue.
The Bristol native is an active volunteer for multiple non-profit organizations, including the Bristol Boys & Girls Club, where he serves as the President of the Board of Directors.
Rosado resides on Stafford Avenue with his wife, Eva, with whom he has three children. He is a Navy Veteran where he earned the National Defense Service Medal before his honorable discharge in 1994.
