Middletown’s girls lacrosse team just one goal better than Bristol Central on Monday afternoon

By Michael Letendre

Bristol Central’s girls lacrosse team went back and forth against a feisty coop squad from Middletown/Coginchaug on Monday evening.

And for the second time over a six-day period, the Middletown contingent was able to hang a loss on a squad from Bristol.

After defeating Bristol Eastern by a 12-11 push on April 4, Middletown was able to just sneak by the Rams over an 8-7 final from the turf field at BCHS.

Middletown improved to 2-0 overall while Central fell to 1-1 on the campaign.

“Tough loss at home to Middletown tonight,” said Central coach Kyle Phelan via Twitter.

Kaylynn LaPointe led the scoring charge for Central with four goals while Rachel Wygant added two.

Emily Lowe also netted a score for the home team.

The defense hung in as Central allowed just eight goals in the contest, giving the offense chances over match play to keep pace.

“[The] defense and Amy [Pelletier] played tough!” said Phelan.

The Rams look to get back in the win column on Thursday in a CCC South confrontation against Lewis Mills.

Match time is set for noon from the turf field at Bristol Central.

NOTES…Central’s match against Wolcott on Friday is going to be changed to 2:30 p.m. instead of its original time of 6 p.m.….Keep Tuesday April 25 open as Central and Eastern battle it out at 7 p.m. from Alumni Field on the campus of BEHS in a city series explosion.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
