This year’s All-Heart Park Advocate of the Year will be honored at the Second Annual “Dinner on the Diamond,” Saturday, May 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Muzzy Field. This dinner is the Bristol park system’s biggest fundraiser.
The evening features live music from local band Southern Voice, drinks, a four-course meal catered by Greenhouse Tavern and Café and seating on the infield at historic Muzzy Field.
This year’s the honoree, former Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu, was announced by park superintendent Josh Mederios in a press release last week. She is being recognized for her efforts on behalf of Bristol’s park system which is among the best in the state, according to Mederios.
Individual and couple tickets for “Dinner on the Diamond,” featuring its view from playing with tables set up on the infield, are available at www.BristolRec.com.
Tables seat eight and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets starting at $125 for individuals, $225 for couples.
All profits from the evening will go toward the Friends of Bristol Parks and Recreation Fund through the Main Street Community Foundation to support coalition and community driven projects, programs, volunteerism and stewardship initiatives.
Attire is business casual/cocktail and guests are encouraged to use caution if planning to wear heels. The rain date for the event is Saturday, May 20.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors
The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.
- Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
- Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
- Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.
Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
