Bristol Central girls track & field runs, jumps and leaps over CCC South rival Lewis Mills on Tuesday, 107-42

girls track -- Empty running track and field

By Michael Letendre

BRISTOL – There wasn’t much doubt as to who would win the girls outdoor track and field showdown between Bristol Central and Lewis Mills on Tuesday afternoon.

The Rams scooped in a huge 107-42 victory from home with the Bristol Central/Bristol Eastern confrontation looming the following week.

Central’s Gabriella Naranjo won the 100 meters in 13.1 seconds and Lynae Lewis was at it again in the 400 meters.

She won the quarter mile challenge in 1:02.3 while Sophia Stark seized multiple wins that day.

Stark came in first place in the 800 meters with a finish of 2:39 while in the mile event, Stark won in a time of 6:30.

Katie Tran won the 3200 meters and then in the field, Kaleah Richards and Kylee Barnes scored first place tallies over multiple events.

In the shot put, Richards took first place with a throw of 28 feet, 8.25 inches while in the discus,

she completed a toss of 73 feet, five inches to win it.

And Richard’s javelin chuck of 69 feet, eight inches was good enough to win her the event.

Barnes was excellent, once again, in both the high (five feet) and triple jumps (32 feet, four inches) for the victories.

Don’t forget about next Tuesday afternoon when Bristol Central and Bristol Eastern collide over a huge main event from the campus of BCHS.

Meet time is set for 3:45 p.m. and should be a good one.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
