BRISTOL – The Bristol coop lacrosse program battled against a tough squad from Lewis Mills on Tuesday, falling by an 11-4 final in semifinal round play of the CCC Tournament.
The showdown, contested from Lewis Mills High School in Burlington, saw the home team nab the lead after the first quarter, never looking back.
Bristol trailed 4-1 after one period of play, hung around at the half (5-2) but was never able to complete the comeback.
Four different players notched goals against the Spartans as the defense from Mills made some big stops.
Ian Reardon, Jayden Glasper, Brady Bell and Vincent Howley all tallied goals for the Kingstreeters.
Reardon dished out an assist while Dylan Brown scooped up five ground balls.
Connor Akerley added three ground balls and Aidan Collins had two as did Glasper.
Goalie Max Stavens zipped up 14 saves – out of 25 tries.
Stavens was able to stop seven of 12 shots over first half play to keep his squad in the mix.
Mills added four goals over the third 12 minutes of the showdown to rope up a 9-2 cushion entering the fourth period to help seize the victory.
NOTES…Bristol entered the postseason at 14-3 overall, opening up first round play on the road. The Kingstreeters started play at No. 23, squaring off against No. 10 Fairfield Ludlowe (8-7) on the road on Friday.
