Anthony C. Middleton, 85

Anthony C. Middleton, 85, of Bristol, beloved husband of R. Lucille (Hanson) Middleton, died on Thursday, June 15, at Bristol Hospital.

Tony was born in New Britain on Aug. 12, 1937, and was one of two sons of the late Harold and Cecelia (Kaschak) Middleton. He was raised in Bristol graduating from Bristol High School. He also attended Cheshire Academy and Upsala College in New Jersey. Anybody who knew “Bop” knew about his two greatest loves: his family (especially his grandchildren), and the game of golf. His love of golf led his to his career as a golf equipment salesman, which her pursued for the entirety of his life. 

He has been a member of Chippanee Country Club since late 1959. Playing in the club’s annual member-guest tournament with his son was the highlight of his year. He and Luci were married in 1958 and were members of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Bristol.

In addition to his wife, Tony is survived by two children: Dean Middleton and wife, Kathleen of Fairfield, and Carrie Walsh and husband, Michael of West Hartford; his brother: Michael Middleton and wife, Sharon, of Bristol; five grandchildren: Claire and James Middleton, W. Patrick, Stacie, and Bridget Walsh; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased a daughter: Stacey C. Middleton.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 20, at 11 a.m. at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Burial will follow in Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Monday between 4 and 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to First Tee of Connecticut.
