Hundreds of concertgoers filled the Rockwell Park amphitheater on Tuesday for an evening of music, dancing and food in a serene outdoor setting.
“It’s nice that we can hear music in the park,” said Anna Diaz. “It good for us, my family, because the kids can play and I can relax a bit.”

Local band Radio Waves headlined the second week of the Rockin’ Out at Rockwell Summer Concert Series. The six-piece ensemble played a high-energy set of up-tempo hits, including ‘Dancing Queen,” “Hit Me with Your Best Shot” and “Let’s Dance.”
During the second half of their set, Radio Waves guitarist Derek Monahan led the crowd in a chorus of “Happy Birthday” in honor of his sister Kelly Monahan-DiNoia’s special day.
“I feel very blessed to be surrounded by family and former students,” said Kelly Monahan-DiNoia. “I came to see my brother and he sang to me. That was really nice.” The Bristol Central teacher celebrated with her large, close-knit family, including daughter Riley Monahan-DiNoia.
“She’s had a lot of birthdays,” added Riley Monahan-DiNoia, “and this is one of the best.”
Throughout the evening concertgoers lined up for Classic American local cuisine from Dem Boyz Grill & Catering, salty snacks from Doc Popcorn and frozen treats from Dippin Dots.
The weekly concert series organized by the West End Association features musical acts from a variety of genres including rock, Latin and R&B. Six local bands will be performing weekly through Aug. 15; however, there will not be a concert on Tuesday, July 4.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors
The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.
- Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
- Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
- Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.
Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
