BERLIN – The Bristol Eastern boys and girls cross country teams started the CCC South portion of their campaign with a meet against Berlin and Maloney on Tuesday afternoon.
The showdown, from Pistol Creek Park in Berlin, saw the girls split the affair while the boys – a possible CCC South frontrunner if everything works out – were able to sweep the competition.
For the girls, Eastern fell to Berlin (21-36) while the squad hung a 28-39 loss on Maloney to split the day.
“[The] girls lost to a very strong Berlin team, but pulled together to take down Maloney,” said Eastern coach Paul Ryskowski. “Kaelyn Gonzalez led the way finishing 3rd overall. She was backed by Calliope Gallagher and Rita Gao, who both put in very strong efforts.”
On the boys front, the Kingstreeters got to the pay window twice.
The Lancers spun the Redcoats (19-42) and Spartans (28-39), zipping up a 2-0 record to begin the 2023 campaign.
“[The] boys won against both Maloney and Berlin today and were led by Jase Koczur who placed first overall,” said Ryskowski. “Brendan Tartarelli and Kyle Kelley also put in great races finishing fourth and fifth overall, respectively.”
Eastern is back in action next Tuesday in a CCC South bout from Page Park at 3:45 p.m.
The Lancers will host Maloney and Plainville in what should be a great day on the course across from Bristol Eastern.
