Gilles P. Brochu, Sr., 76, of Bristol, beloved husband of Nancy Ross, died on Friday, Sept. 29, at John Dempsey Hospital.
Gilles was born on April 30,1947, in St. Evariste, Quebec, Canada and was the oldest child of the late Welley and Rose (Fortier) Brochu.
He was raised in Canada moving to Putnam, Conn., in the 1970’s where he would meet Nancy. A resident of Bristol since the 1980’s, he was known as a hard-working lumberjack and tree cutter.
He enjoyed working around the yard, reading, watching TV, and caring for the cats. He was a member of the Zbikowski Post PLAV Club where he enjoyed spending time with his buddies Roger Lamontagne, Dennis Turcotte and Larry Trudel.
In addition to his wife, Gilles is survived by a son: Gilles P. Brochu, Jr., and granddaughter, Lauren Brochu, of San Antonio, Texas; four siblings: Jeannine Nadeau (Gilles Rodrigue) of Sherbrooke, PQ, Canada, Pierrette Sirois (Andre) of Farmington, Benoit Brochu of Harwinton, and Jacques Labonte (Marilyne McCutcheon) of Thetford Mines, PQ, Canada; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mary Breton, Joyce Fletcher, Tammy Gregory, Eugene Ross, Roland Ross, Jr., and Leonard Ross; and many nieces and nephews.
