Pauline (Marzano) Blaschke, 84, of Woodbury, formerly of Bristol, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 21. Pauline was born on May 4, 1939, in Bristol, and was the older of two daughters of the late Anthony and Eleanor Marzano.
She was a communicant of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bristol. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for 39 years as a school secretary at the Immanuel Lutheran Grammar School in Bristol. Pauline loved raising her family, friends, cooking, working, and UConn women’s’ basketball.
Her home served as the center of entertainment. She believed food brought people together and she took great pride in preparing countless meals. Her door was always open to anyone who knew her, whether it be a Holiday or an ordinary day during the week, you didn’t need an invite to stop in and see “Ma Blaschke.” And all those visits would include many laughs and copious amounts of food.
She was known to her grandchildren as Nan Paul, and she was a formidable force in their lives. As her grandson Gregory, said it best “Nan, you were the most selfless, most caring, and most influential person in my life, and you can rest peacefully knowing you did a wonderful job raising multiple generations of Blaschke Boys.”
Thank you for all that you’ve done. Wherever you are we hope the peppers are hot enough. You will be forever in our hearts.
She leaves behind her sister: Rose Hamilton of Woodbury; her two sons: William A. Blaschke, Jr. and his wife Dana of Middlebury, Jeffrey Blaschke and his wife Debbie of Killingworth; and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by her former husband, the late William A. Blaschke, Sr. and her son Gregory Blaschke.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (November 28, 2023) at 11 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 154 Meadow St., Bristol.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Monday between 5 and 7 p.m. Please visit Pauline’s memorial website at www.FunkFuneralHome.com.
All TBE readers, supporters and donors
The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.
- Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
- Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
- Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.
Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
