Bristol Eastern girls get shut down in second quarter on Monday and never recover, losing at Berlin, 49-33

Berlin broke open a close contest by outscoring Eastern in the second period, 15-2, and coasted through the remainder of the game to a 49-33 triumph Monday night.

The Lancers had 19 turnovers in the game, and many of those came in the nightmarish second stanza. To add to their misery, Eastern shot an Ice Age 10% from the floor in period 2.

Vanessa Drury and Autumn Udoh combined to score 26 of Eastern’s 33 in the game. Drury scored 15 and Udoh had 11. The entire remainder of the Lancer roster combined to eke out 7 points.

Berlin’s Emma Ellison led all scorers with a 20 point performance.

Eastern drops to 13-5 with only two games remaining in the regular season.

The Lancer host Middletown on Thursday and then cross-town rival Bristol Central on Monday. Both games are scheduled for a 6:30 tip.
