The Bristol Police Department issued the following information this afternoon:
The Bristol Police Department responded to a call regarding a serious motor vehicle crash in the area of Middle Street and Redstone Hill Road at 11:49 a.m. today
Upon the officers’ arrival, they found that the crash involved two vehicles, a sport-type motorcycle and a sedan passenger vehicle. The operator of the motorcycle was suffering serious injuries from the crash and medical services were contacted as police started medical aid.
The motorcycle operator’s injuries were significant, and Lifestar was contacted and responded to the scene. They later transported the motorcycle operator to an area hospital.
The driver of the sedan was not injured.
The initial investigation showed that the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Middle Street in the area of Redstone Hill Road when the sedan exited a business’s driveway. As the sedan entered the roadway, it was struck by the motorcycle.
The Bristol Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team was activated and responded to the scene to resume the investigation.
Middle Street, Connecticut State Route 229, was closed during this investigation and was reopened later at approximately 4:00 p.m..
The motorcycle operator was not wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of this crash. As of this writing, the motorcycle operator is listed in critical but stable condition and remains in the hospital.
